A woman with long, curly brown hair smiling at the camera while holding a paintbrush. Behind her, there is a colorful painting of a young person with short hair, wearing a green shirt, against a green and blue background.

Artist Statement

“What next? The leaves. Green. What green? Yellow-green. Gray it. Add some red. Too muddy. Mix again. Just a dab of red. Add some white. No, too vivid. Wipe it off. More gray. A little black. Is this right? Looks close. Wipe that off. Skip this song. Turn it up. Add blue. That's good. What brush? No, too small. This one. Broad strokes. Start with darks....”

I paint because I love it and because I have to capture those small, fleeting moments of beauty in my life. I paint with lots of energy and intensity to the rhythm of loud, upbeat music to block out my inner critic and to bring some dance into my painting practice.
